The ATH-CM2000Ti is part of Audio Technica’s 2019 “Ti” series flagship products, introduced along with the AP2000Ti headphones and the CK2000Ti IEMs. The CM2000Ti is perhaps the most unique product in the line-up, being a high end earbud release when this type of design is increasingly rare. For lovers of the earbud form factor though, the CM2000Ti offers a truly high end experience. At the heart of the CM2000Ti is a 15.4mm high resolution driver with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated diaphragm, permendur magnetic circuit, all housed in a rigid, low resonance titanium housing.
The CM2000Ti comes with detachable A2DC cables, with a 1.2m long standard stereo 3.5mm cable included, as well as a 1.2m long 4.4mm balanced cable for use with premium audio players like the Sony NW-ZX300. Also included is a set of foam earpads and a premium hard carrying case.
In terms of sound, the CM2000Ti is an instant classic with its beautiful midrange focused signature. Bass response is not particularly impressive, as the CM2000Ti is an open earbud design, but for classical and jazz music the rich vocal signature delivers an insightful listen. High frequencies are clear but not particularly harsh or splashy. Soundstage is another highlight, with the open design producing a wide, spacious listen. If you prefer a stronger bass response or desire stronger noise isolation, the CK2000Ti is the more obvious choice. However, the CM2000TI offers a quiet, contemplative listen and a strong contrast to almost all other earphones on the market today.
Lovers of the earbud form factor rejoice – the flagship CM2000Ti delivers a beautiful midrange and a premium design.
