Darwin Audio Architecture
For the first time HiBy is applying the Darwin architecture, the winner of endless accolades in the high-end DAP arena, to a portable headphone DAC/amp: the FC6. Utilizing an R2R design for the DAC ensures a sound with emotion: warm, with mellow naturalness, while at the same time preserving the FIR filtering and NOS/OS switch etc. of the Darwin system for maximum flexibility.
Utilizing 96 high precision resistors in a R-2R network, along with HiBy’s exclusive tech for linearity compensation to yield both the natural fluidity of R2R DACs and the accuracy of traditional DS DACs!
NOS/OS Mode Switch
NOS mode is non-oversampling, responding more immediately and directly to signals, and converting the digital signals to analog output directly. This creates a more analog sound signature. Because of high frequency aliasing, NOS mode is more suitable for music files / streams of 192kHz sample rate or above.
Oversampling mode easily removes aliasing artifacts via the tried and true combination of oversampling and an ultrasonic lowpass filter, yielding superior measured performance. Oversampling enables all functions of the Darwin architecture, realising personalized adjustments of sound signature, adapted to different earphones.
High Quality Output
The FC6 is equipped with dual crystal oscillators at 45.158MHz and 49.152MHz, for accurate clocking of 44.1x and 48x kHz music sources alike and vanishingly low jitter.
The Headphone stage of the FC6 is on par with high-end DAPs, with 2 flagship-class OPA1622 headphone amp chips and 4- way independent current-mode amplification.
The FC6 natively supports DSD up to DSD512 as well as PCM up to 32bit / 768kHz, allowing for high quality format support with HiFi home audio sources, as well as all streaming music sources.
